The reasons for the cracks in the cylinder block and cylinder head include unreasonable structure, material and manufacturing process problems, and improper use and maintenance. From the perspective of use and maintenance, the specific measures to prevent cracks in the cylinder block and cylinder head mainly include the following:
(1) Do not overload the engine for a long time. Because this will lead to excessive thermal stress on the cylinder.
(2) When the engine is at high temperature, do not suddenly add cold water. If it is found that the engine is short of water during driving, the cooling water must be added after the engine temperature is lowered to prevent explosion due to the excessive temperature difference between the cylinder block and the water; before starting the engine, sufficient cooling water should be added to avoid water shortage or temperature rise. Then add cold water.
(3) The scale in the water jacket should be removed in time. Too much scale will not only reduce the passing area of cooling water, but also reduce the heat dissipation performance of the engine due to the poor heat transfer of the scale. Especially after the water channels between the cylinders and valve seats are blocked, the heat dissipation performance will be greatly reduced, the local working temperature will increase, and the thermal stress will be too large and cracks will appear.
(4) After the engine is started, it cannot be run at high speed immediately to prevent the increase of the load of the cylinder block due to the vibration of the crankshaft, resulting in cracks in the weak parts.
(5) Use the accelerator pedal reasonably. At any time, it is necessary to avoid a sudden explosion of oil; when the car accelerates, the throttle valve should not be opened too quickly or too slowly; the power of the engine should be adjusted reasonably by manipulating the accelerator pedal during driving to avoid the engine working at high speed and overloading for a long time.
(6) When parking outdoors at night in cold winter, the cooling water must be drained; when the engine is not easy to start, it is best to preheat the heating water before starting it; for temporary parking for a long time (generally more than 2h), the cooling water should also be drained , and put it thoroughly; if the water is not released, the engine should be started in time to keep the engine at a certain temperature. If the specified antifreeze has been used, it is another matter.
